Hotel Aigle and the cultural tourism in winter

In winter, tourism might seem a bold activity. Especially, given the starting point: a mountain resort...
In reality, things are not exactly like that.
Hotel Aigle is located in a strategic and convenient location. It is, in fact, less than a kilometer from all the fundamental traffic connections, impracticable only in exceptional cases: the state road, the highway, the Mont Blanc Tunnel. This means that with a car available, it is easy to reach every interesting destination. For example: Aosta and various locations in the Valley, Chamonix and the main towns of Haute-Savoie, French Switzerland and, even, Geneva.
Furthermore, a good system of bus lines allows those who do not have the car to reach Aosta and Chamonix in a relatively straightforward manner.

Among the places to visit in Valle d'Aosta, the most advisable in winter are Morgex, with its charming old town and the beautiful church, and, above all, Aosta.
The capital of Valle d'Aosta can be reached from the hotel taking the highway in about 20-25 minutes. Even in winter you can appreciate all its artistic and cultural beauty, made even more mysterious by the enchantment of snow (not always present).
A visit to the Porta Pretoria, Arch of Augustus, the Roman theater. Then, the Collegiate Church of Sant'Orso, with the famous cloister and the cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. If you have the time and desire, you can also schedule a visit to the Museo Archeologico Regionale, really rich and interesting. And finally, a walk from Piazza Emile Chanoux in Via Sant'Anselmo and Via de Tillier, to wander in the shop or have a break in one of the elegant pastry shops and bars in the area.

The Mont Blanc Tunnel is open all the year. This allows you to get to Chamonix from the Hotel Aigle in about 20' (with flowing traffic). On the other side you can easily reach all places of the Haute Savoie, both by car and by train. For example, Annecy with its famous buildings and scenic houses.
Chamonix features many reasons of interest. First of all, its elegant streets, innumerable shops and restaurants, serving both traditional Savoyard specialties and dishes of all cuisines. Definitely worth a visit is the Alpine Museum, with countless and intriguing testimonials about the exploration of Mont Blanc.

From Chamonix you can get by car or by train to Martigny, in Switzerland. And from there, you can go further to Lausanne and Geneva.
But even in Martigny there would already be enough to see. The main street, with many shops and historic buildings, the Gianadda Foundation, with its major exhibitions and outdoor sculpture park.
The Hotel staff is able to provide information, materials, and "straight" to allow its guests not to remain "slaves of skiing" and experience the pleasure of enjoying many other beautiful things.
