The town of Courmayeur

Courmayeur is one of the most important mountain resorts in Europe.
Of course, his fame depends to a large extent on the exceptional location at the foot of the southern side of Mont Blanc, sunny and milder than the northern one. But this privilege is added to the charm that comes from being a town elegant and extraordinarily rich in opportunities, while maintaining the appearance of a high mountain station.
On the route from Aosta to the Mont Blanc Tunnel and France, Courmayeur is the last major town in the Valle d'Aosta. At that location the valley draws a curve to the north, widening out and forming two plateau, separated from the course of Dora Baltea. Then, the valley continues to stop under the Mont Blanc and doubling in the Val Veny and Val Ferret.
